Dear Friends of Marta,
In celebration of Marta Becket's devotion to classical music and ballet, you are invited to Marta's 56th Anniversary events on Feb. 10, 2024 in her Renaissance-inspired Amargosa Opera House. Tickets may be purchased for one of two performance times: Matinee at 2 p.m. or evening at 7 p.m.
Our program will feature the virtuoso pianist from Los Angeles Jérémie Favreau, performing some of Marta's favorite classical pieces in collaboration with talented ballet dancers from Los Angeles and accomplished choreographer, Janie Taylor, and her co-choreographer and dancer, Shu Kinouchi.
Taylor was a principal dancer for the New York City Ballet until joining the L.A. Dance Project in 2016, where she has continued her stellar career as a dancer, rehearsal director and choreographer. Co-choreographer and dancer, Shu Kinouchi, will join dancer, Chloe Oronoz, in performing the spirited classics selected and performed by Favreau.
As a prelude to these classical performances, Lane Norberg, a gifted singer-songwriter from Portland, Oregon, will perform his original indie-folk song "Amargosa" from his CD "Coming To Life," which was released in 2021. "Amargosa" was inspired by Marta Becket's life and art and the enduring power of creativity and beauty discovered in one of the most remote, hard-scrabble places in the world: Death Valley Junction, California.
